In Pictures: The Queen’s Australian Tour

As the Queen wraps up what could be her final tour of Australia, it is good to see the tour was obviously a source of excitement and joy for the Queen. Here are a few memorable moments:

In Melbourne, the Queen rides the "royal tram" on her way to officially open the Royal Children's Hospital with Prince Philip.

While meeting 6 foot 8 inch basketball player Elizabeth Cambage, the Queen was literally dwarfed. Ms. Cambage, who described the Queen as "a tiny, delicate thing" had a pleasant exchange with the Queen. The Queen said, "You must be a basketball player." Ms. Cambage replied, "How can you tell?" The Queen chucked and replied, "You must find it very easy."

As she was in Australia, a visit to see koalas was assured. While re-opening the rainforest walk, which was washed out by flooding earlier this year, the Queen and Prince Philip enjoyed a close encounter with cuddly koalas. During the visit, the Queen saluted the resilience and courage of the Queenslanders who were affected by the flooding.

Many children turned out to present the Queen with flowers this week, including one small boy dressed as a beefeater, who heartily won the Queen's approval.
